De Ateliers LectureDina Mimi

Club Solo organises a series of lectures together with residents of De Ateliers (Amsterdam). In these lectures the artists talk about their work in relation to the residency. Each speaker chooses the next resident to give the next lecture. Dina Mimi was chosen by Sam Marshall Lockyer who gave De Ateliers Lecture in September 2022.

Dina Mimi lives and works alternately in Jerusalem and Amsterdam. Her practice is diverse: she uses video, sound, performance and text. Mimi deals with topics such as grief and fugitive bodies, asking herself questions like: what does grief sound like, how do we recognise fiction in historical accounts, what happens to the body before it disappears? She does detailed research on death and memory, focusing especially on historical events and the colonial past.
