Club Solo organises a series of lectures together with residents of De Ateliers (Amsterdam). In these lectures the artists talk about their work in relation to the residency. Each speaker chooses the next resident to give the next lecture. Mhm, mhm was chosen by Sophie Soobramanien who gave De Ateliers Lecture in June 2021.
Mhm, mhm (US) works as an artist and poet.
In his lecture he will talk about his sound works, sculptures, performative interventions and videos. Sound and language from his direct social environment are at the core of his work. He finds the materials he uses, such as audio equipment and sculptural tools, in second-hand shops, at online sellers and on the street. With his work, he tries to disrupt the logic of authority and belief systems, such as those of art and art production.
Mhm, mhm has previously been a resident of the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Yale Norfolk Summer School of Art and Oxbow School of Art in the US. He has made shows for Montezpress and Mighty Radio and performed a lecture-performance at Haus Wien in Vienna.
