Geluidpost Episode 1

Geluidpost was part of artist run space Lokaal 01, located at Kloosterlaan 138, Breda, from 1981 to 2013.

Geluidpost was a listening room in the stairwell of the building, where composers, musicians and sound artists were invited to make dedicated work.

Geluidpost was a place where improvised jazz, electro-acoustic music and sound art were brought to the attention in a charming way.

With Geluidpost, Club Solo brings the auditive adventure back to Breda.

During the Cultural Sunday on 17 July, this first edition offers space to performances by Noire Antidote and Tjalling de Leeuw (post-industrial/percussion), Julian Edwardes (electronics/improvisation) and Gert-Jan Prins (electronic noise).

Julian Edwardes

Julian Edwardes is an artist and electronic musician from the Netherlands. His work centers around algorithmic ecosystems, pattern- and tone generators, the elegance of code and the movement of sound. Julian is a trained visual artist with a background in Fine Art; he studied at AKV St Joost in Breda and at the Sandberg Institute Amsterdam. His compositions are akin to his experience in relating to three-dimensional work in a space. Sonic entities are playfully sculpted and positioned in landscapes of shifting symphonic drone. Form, language, identity and existence are assayed within compositional frameworks pullulated from a modular synthesizer, utilizing unstable systems and disrupted resonant bodies.

Gert-Jan Prins

Gert-Jan Prins focuses on the sonic and musical qualities of electronic noise and percussion and investigates its relationship with the visual. While he started his career as a drummer, his works include performances, sound-installations, compositions, electronic circuits and collaborations with musicians, visual artists and performance artists. He focuses on the sonic and musical qualities of electronic ‘noise’. In his work, Prins makes connections with modern electronic club culture, occupying a radical position with his investigation of electronic sound and its relationship to the visual. He also creates links with the performance art and machine art of the 1980s, which reshaped the legacy of industrial society to produce threatening, yet sometimes also sublime, encounters with technology.
